How to use the word 'news'

The word 'news' in English is an uncountable noun; it never changes.

Meaning: information or reports about recent events.

Pronunciation: /njuːz/

Examples of usage:

  • I have just heard the news.
  • I am watching the news.
  • I've just received some great news.

You cannot say:  'I have a news'.

In the singular we can say: 'a piece of news'. Or on television we can hear an 'item of news'.
