The word 'clothes' in English is an uncountable noun; it never changes. It is always written in the plural.

Meaning:  things you wear

Pronunciation:  /kləʊðz

 

Examples of usage:

  • I've bought some new clothes.
  • Put some clothes on.
  • I'm going to put my clothes in the wash/I'm going to wash my clothes.

You cannot say:  'I have a clothes.'

In the singular we can say: 'an item of clothing'.
